The Volkswagen Group's goal is to maintain commercial success through the quality and lasting value of its products and services, and this also depends on the ability and timeliness with which risks and opportunities are identified, compliance with laws, regulations, ethical principles, as well as the commitment of all Partners and their collaborators. The Volkswagen Group works to ensure that the high standards adopted internally are guaranteed throughout the entire value chain. It is believed that responsible conduct contributes to the Group's commercial success and that business partners play a fundamental role in achieving this success.
These requirements are based on national and international regulatory provisions and conventions, such as the UN Global Compact, the International Chamber of Commerce's Business Charter for Sustainable Development, the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions, the guiding principles aimed at improving sustainability performance within the supply chain under the Drive Sustainability initiative. They are also based on internal Volkswagen Group standards and values such as the Declaration on Social Rights and Industrial Relations, the Occupational Safety Policy, the Environmental Policy and the resulting objectives and guidelines, the Quality Policy, and the Code of Ethics for employees. Furthermore, business partners must commit to complying with the applicable national legislation, for example, in terms of environmental protection, accident prevention, and anti-corruption. Compliance with this Code of Conduct must also be ensured for any subcontractors.
